DIGICEL CAYMAN SUPPORTS 15th ANNUAL FLOWERS SEA SWIM

June 20th, 2007 – Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands:  With its cash sponsorship and donation of 20 phones as prizes for the annual Flowers Sea Swim, Digicel Cayman was among the sponsors who were lauded by the event’s organisers for its contribution to the promotion of the sport and of the Cayman as an international sea swim destination when the event was held last Saturday (June 16) at Seven Mile Beach.

Digicel has been a major sponsor of the Flowers Annual Sea Swim for the past three years and its sponsorship has enabled the growth of the event. This year’s race registered a record-breaking 535 swimmers and another 180 competitors who participated in a “Watch and Walk” along one mile of the beach.

Digicel and the event’s other sponsors were presented with plaques of appreciation for their contribution by members of the Flowers team.

Digicel’s CEO, JD Buckley in accepting the plaque on behalf of the company applauded Frank Flowers for his hard work and commitment to making the sea swim bigger and better every year. He noted that when Digicel began operations in the Cayman Islands, Mr. Flowers was one of the company’s early supporters who showed confidence in its service and moved the Flowers’ business to Digicel.

“Digicel is committed to supporting the Flowers Sea Swim and by so doing to help this event grow even more in the years to come as we believe it has already demonstrated its potential to benefit the Cayman Islands by bringing visitors and international athletes to these shores,” Mr. Buckley stated.
